Custom Make Unique Tiered Servers

Lovely, dainty, unique tiered cake and sandwich servers are a perfect way to class up your next wedding, bridal shower, baby shower, indoor or outdoor tea party, or other social gathering.
Want to make your own Unique Tiered Servers?
I recommend you practice first on a plate, etc, that you are not afraid to ruin, as you get the hang of how to drill the hole properly.
Here is what you will need to have and need to do:
- Pretty plates, bowls, teacups etc, in graduated sizes. Your local thrift store may have some unique options. Don’t use ceramic, as it will shatter when you make the hole in it. Be sure to check the bottom of the plate, etc, and look for bone china or porcelain, as these are easier to drill.
- An electric drill
- Diamond core drill bits, typically ¼ inch or 6 cm
- Duct tape
- Ruler
- Sharpie
- Water
- 3 Tier Stand Hardware/Fittings
1) Using a ruler, find the exact middle of the inside of the plate and put a dot on it with the sharpie. Be sure to double check you have the exact middle.
2) Put a piece of duct tape on the bottom of the plate, etc, under where the dot is located. This will help to catch the piece of the plate that is drilled out of the plate.
3) Pour a small layer of water inside the plate.
4) Put the diamond drill bit in the drill.
5) Start drilling where the dot is by first drilling at a slight angle and then gradually moving the drill bit to be at a 90-degree angle to the plate. The entire process is quite quick once you have the hang of it.
6) Removed the tape and drilled piece.
7) Thoroughly clean the plate, etc.
8) Attach the Tier Stand Hardware/Fitting to complete your unique tiered server.
