For Want of a Little England

A little cottage, a little tree
A little sip of a little tea
A little bridge over a little stream
A lovely, little country dream

A little hill, a little dale
A little garden, a little pail
A little path, a little rose
A little squirrel’s little nose

A little pub, a little old
A little narrow, winding road
A little car, a little view
A little home to share with you

A little fishing village street
A little shop of little sweets
A little castle by the sea
A little England for little me

For you held it gently in your hand

For you held it gently in your hand
The delicate leaf which
You did well to understand
O with a love tender and rich
You keep it in your being always
Yet, your heart I knew not
Until it seemed to me one day
The leaf you had forgot
O, please, o do not let it crumble
And do not let it tear apart
As I stand here ever humble
With it, the locket of my heart
O let my being stand before
And with my heart an open door

Freedom

I long for a land that is truly free.
I hope for a home of peace,
A place that I’d really like to be.
Should I not look, at least?

Is there a chance that I will find
This land that I search for,
Before I loose my mind?
Is there hope that the door

To this place will open?
Is it all in my head?
Oh, I am hoping
That I will find it, before I am dead.

Gold

I saw the end
    of a rainbow
In the lot
    by the store
There was no
    pot of gold
Nor leprechaun
    of lore
Yet there was
    a sort of gold
Or so it
    did seem
In the sparkling
    brilliant ray
Of a glittering
    sunbeam

Island of the Sky

The boat, it rocks on waters calm
The wind, it blows against the sails
The water, it slides past the stern
And underneath glides the whales

The sun, it sets on the horizon
The birds, they fly so way up high
The island, it floats before the sun
An island of the sky

Perfect Skate

When they take the ice
It seems as though time stands still.
Anticipation in the air
The music bursts with a trill.

They glide softly about the rink.
No two artists dance more gracefully
To melodies of pure elegance
Through drama, passion or tragedy.

They skate the skate of love
As they look deep into one another’s eyes.
It cannot be shrouded –
Their love is synchronized.

Through twists and turns they are
Two in body, one in soul
Awaiting the final standing,
The perfect score: 6.0

Shadow Tree

Sometimes, at night
When the stars are shining bright
I look out my window and see
The solemn shadow of a tree

It stands there, still
It is a symbol of strong will
For it is solid through a storm
And when it rains, and when it’s warm

It never complains about how
Someone treats it, then or now
Or if someone hurts it and doesn’t think
It never seems to be on the brink

Of disaster
Neither now nor thereafter

Your Library

A ship through a stormy sea
An island full of treasure
That’s how adventure shall be
Explore it for your pleasure

Rainy days, dark nights
Full moon, restless man
That’s how horror fights
Read it, if you can

Reality it does not seem
Pixies in a far away land
That is how fantasy dreams
On an ocean beach of sand

The gun was not mine, but his
The detective solved the case
That is how mystery is
The read it you must make haste

The hero will save the day
A love story and its lover
There’s one more thing I should say
Don’t judge a book by its cover
